Special “Red-Hot” Visible CCDs for SNAP

• New kind of Charged Coupled Device (CCD) developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

• Better red response than “thinned” CCDs devices in use at most telescopes.

• High-purity silicon has better radiation tolerance for space applications.

• Very small diffusion => good for weak lensing measurements
